Namaskaram Narendra Modi garu

April 2, 2025

Namaskaram Narendra Modi garu,

We both have a common Guru, Sri Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati.

I just read the heartbreaking news of a 17 year writ petition filed by him being sent back to the respective High Courts.

Frankly, I am numb and have no words. I am not active in public forums, but I felt I should write this note to you. May be it will find its way to your notice.

Our Guru would surely be disappointed with the actions of your Government. He blessed you to be what you are today. But your Government failed him. Perhaps it was not brought to your notice. Perhaps the ASG acted as he did without any briefing from anyone. Perhaps he did not know the importance of this petition for our Guru—and therefore, for you and me.

Today is the 10th anniversary of an institute I founded and I did want to celebrate. But not anymore. I am not sure if anything is worth celebrating anymore. The way the courts work, it will be another 25 years before a constitutional bench is constituted and a judgment delivered. But then I guess that is okay too. We are a patient lot. Sometimes our wait extends to hundreds of years. What we could not see in our lifetime, our next generation—or the generations after that—will see. We should therefore never lose hope.

I wish you well for the remainder of your term. I hope and pray that you are able to carry the burden of this injustice done by your Government. Being the Jnani that he is, I am sure our Guru will continue to bless you.

I remember his blessing to me the last time I saw him, on the 9th of September 2015 in Rishikesh. He asked me to work hard and added, “Bharat ke liye.”

I am sure he must have told you the same thing when you met him a few days later.

Yes. We therefore must continue our work. Bharat Ke Liye

May his blessings always remain with us.

Om
