I quit Facebook in May 2014.
Coincidentally, my last post was on Manmohan Singh. This beautiful cartoon published in a newspaper caught my attention prompting my share.
It shows Manmohan leaving a prison and being welcomed by his conscience.
As we now ponder about his legacy and his contributions to our economic reforms, I was reminded of this cartoon.
May be the time line of his life can be broken into three phases :
1932-2004 : A man of integrity
2004-2014 : A man of integrity + a coward
20014-2024 : A man of integrity + a coward + remorseful
For me, the biggest takeaway from his life is merely having integrity means very little without having the necessary courage to translate this into actions.
His ten-year tenure as the PM, is a case study in leadership on how not to compromise your values and allow others to imprison you into doing things which go against your value system.
In other words how not be a Puppet Leader.
The Sadgati I wish for him, is that in his next life, he is also born with the necessary courage along with integrity.
